As parents, spouses and business partners, we strive to have the same connection, clarity and integrity in all of our relationships.
My wife, Danielle, and I have had many unique experiences traveling and seeing the world; you gain a clear perspective of life when you see how others are living. When I was 11, my parents took me on a trip across the world to see different countries in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. We hitchhiked and hiked from place to place for months, experiencing different cultures, from visiting with Masai in Africa to hiking to the base camp of Mount Everest in Nepal. Every day offered new challenges and adventure.
My parents really embraced the rawness of traveling. We never did the typical tourist routes. They led us into the unknown, embracing spontaneous detours, and revering the new paths in front of us. That trip changed the trajectory of my life. It made me grateful for everything I have and tenacious in looking for opportunities. Danielle and I want to offer the same sense of adventure, awe, and reverence to our kids, not only through travel but through all aspects of life. Having built my own real estate business, I hope to demonstrate to my children that you can forge your own path, take the road less traveled, embrace the unexpected, and make meaningful connections along the way.
Before working in real estate, I taught special education for 16 years. It was work that was interesting and dynamic, where I was able to work with students and families in a way that felt meaningful to both myself and others. But our families' world changed when our daughter suffered a severe head injury at age 4. Having years of experience working with people with disabilities, I thought I had a solid enough background to be there for her. But when it is your own child, things are entirely different. I left teaching to put our family first.
We were lucky to find doctors, researchers and an educational team that understood her needs and could guide us during the recovery process. During this time, Elliot’s real estate business provided for our family. I helped Elliot in real estate, with staging, cleaning and organizing. When I got my license I was able to focus on the paperwork side of the business, gaining a deeper understanding of how real estate works, until I was also comfortable working with clients in an ever-changing market.
Real estate is also interesting and dynamic, but after leaving teaching, I was not sure that I would still have the piece of my work that brought creativity and connection to a broader community. I began teaching art lessons in elementary school classes, built a makeshift ceramics studio in our yard, and started creating large scale community tile mosaic projects for schools and nonprofits as a way to continue to connect with people artistically.
In June of 2024, our family of four embarked on a 400-day journey through Morocco, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Nepal, India, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Bali and Japan. We saw extraordinary and ancient architecture, incredible natural spaces, and ate the widest variety of foods. We stayed in rural villages, rented rooms in local homes, and often shared space with families of multiple generations under one roof. We saw how so many different people lived. It gave all four of us the most joyful, eye-widening respect for other people's customs, cultures, and ways to connect. The endless generosity of people everywhere melted our hearts, made us reflect on ourselves, and made us incredibly grateful to be wandering through this wild world.
This trip changed our lives. We came home deeply grateful for things we often take for granted, like basic infrastructure, public education, opportunity, friends and family, and for the business community we feel supported by and get to be part of. That journey expanded our capacity for flexibility, gave us a sense of confidence for navigating unfamiliar and tricky situations, and strengthened our resilience. When challenges arise, we find a way through—bringing that same persistence, imagination, and gratitude to every client we serve.
We approach life with honesty and the desire to do good for others. We work hard for everyone because we believe everyone deserves the knowledge and care that can be provided by quality professional help. We pride ourselves on working with people from all walks of life, regardless of financial circumstances, because we lead with empathy and a solution-based mindset. We have helped over 120 families avoid foreclosure and have helped so many more find their home. We’re grateful for our clients’ trust, which we don’t take for granted.
One of our favorite aspects of real estate is helping people who need extra or nuanced support to achieve their goals. With the right education and information, we help many families understand the processes and ways they can make their vision a reality. Part of that process includes having a trusted team of professionals, including lenders, contractors, and service providers, who share similar goals to ours–honest business, hard work, and a commitment to community. The support we offer lasts beyond the transaction as we hope to be your REALTORS® for life and there for every new adventure you embark on.
Sincerely
